Purpose:
This policy ensures that all new students admitted to American Group International (AGI) are placed appropriately in their grade and academic tracks, even when prior school documentation is missing or incomplete.
It reflects AGI’s commitment to inclusive education, student safety, and the academic success of every student.
1. Mandatory Assessment for All New Students
All students entering AGI for the first time, whether from a French system, English system, or any other educational system, must complete assessment tests before admission.
Required assessments include:
English / ESL proficiency- Anglia Examinations Assessment Level
Mathematics (CAT)
Language Arts / Reading (CAT)
Other core academic subjects if needed
Placement into academic tracks will be determined based on these assessments, even if prior school records are provided. Normally we let children in the grade placement for their age.
2. Provisional Admission
Students may be admitted provisionally if:
Required prior-school documentation (transcripts, report cards, assessment results) is missing.
Provisional admission is temporary, valid for a maximum of 60 calendar days from the student’s first day of school.
During this period, the student’s grade placement and academic support will be determined using internal assessments.
3. Placement Decisions (Inclusive Education Approach)
Grade Placement:
Students are kept in the grade they enter, consistent with AGI’s commitment to inclusive education.
Grade placement is not lowered due to missing documents, language gaps, or academic gaps.
Academic Support:
Students who are behind in specific subjects will receive targeted support to help them reach grade-level expectations.
Support may include:
ESL classes
Simplified or scaffolded materials
Additional tutoring or guided practice
Progress is monitored regularly, and support is adjusted as the student improves.
Provisional Placement Exceptions:
In rare cases where a student demonstrates severe gaps that prevent participation at grade level, temporary adjustments may be made with administrative approval.
4. Documentation Follow-Up
Parents/guardians must provide all prior academic records within 60 calendar days of the student’s first day of school.
It is the parents’ responsibility to submit documentation. The school is not required to repeatedly request missing records.
After 60 calendar days, if records are not provided, the school will determine grade placement and academic support based on internal assessments and the student’s performance.
All communications with parents regarding the initial request for documentation must be logged by the administration office.
5. Support for Students with Academic Gaps
Students identified as behind in English, math, or other subjects will receive:
Supplemental instruction
Simplified or scaffolded curriculum materials
Targeted ESL support
Progress will be monitored regularly to ensure the student reaches grade-level expectations.
6. Transparency and Compliance
Parental Responsibility:
Parents/guardians must provide complete and accurate information regarding their child’s:
Learning differences or disabilities (e.g., ADHD, dyslexia)
Special needs
Medical or psychological conditions relevant to schooling
Reports from doctors, therapists, or specialists
School Review and parental dishonesty:
If it is discovered that critical information has been intentionally withheld, the school administration will:
Conduct a review meeting with relevant administrative staff.
Evaluate the student’s needs, safety, and the school’s ability to provide appropriate support.
Administrative Action:
Based on the review, the school reserves the right to dismiss a student if parents are not complying with disclosure requirements.
The decision to dismiss is not a reflection on the student, but a measure to ensure:
Proper educational support
Safety and well-being of the student and other students
Compliance with school rules and policies.
Documentation:
All meetings, decisions, and communications regarding withheld information will be documented in the student’s file.
